This is a translation project report on Chinese Thinking Modes(Chapter 7 and Chapter 14) written by Wu Chun. Chapter 7 is mainly about the formation of experience and its main modes for application ââ accumulation, intuition, induction and individual and public characteristics. The main ideas of chapter 14 are symbolism and its applications ââ witchcraft, plastic art and poetry in different times.This report consists of the following parts. Part One is the summary of this report, including the background and significance of this book. Part Two introduces the author of the book, the source text analysis and the theories applied in the translation analysis ââ Skopos theory put forward by Vermeer and Sublimation theory put forward by Qian Zhongshu. Part Three demonstrates the obstacles in translation including the translation of Chinese terminology, ancient Chinese classics and implicit logic in Chinese sentence, and also the translation techniques adopted accordingly. Part Four shows the inspirations and lessons learned from the translation report and some problems still unsolved. Part Five is Bibliography. Part Six is Appendix including both source text and target text. |
