In recent years, with the increasing development of China-Africa cooperation, the African people desperately want to learn Chinese and understand Chinese, Chinese language teaching in African countries also rapid development. But as in other parts of the Chinese language teaching, Africa’s Confucius institute of the Chinese teaching in such aspects as teaching materials also faces some challenges. The Confucius institute at the university of Burundi since opened in July 2012, Chinese learners increased year by year, the scale is also being extended gradually, but it also exist some problems of Chinese teaching. Through the analysis, the reason of these problems may be managers or teachers did not understand what they need when the Chinese learners learning Chinese. Based on the above situation, the research object of this paper is the Confucius institute at the university of Burundi’s students, under the guidance of the analysis of needs theory and analyzing their learning needs. This paper use the literature method, questionnaire survey method, natural corpus collection method and SPSS statistical analysis method, investigation and analysis of students specific needs in learning Chinese language, such as the purpose of learning Chinese, the demand for aspects such as teaching materials, teachers and teaching, etc. In addition, based on the survey also learned the Confucius institute at the university of Burundi, the students’ ideal time and number to learn Chinese,the desired class size, the years of learning Chinese, the level of Chinese, and so on. The results of the analysis presented and analyzed in the form of table. We also analyze the results for reference, from the Chinese teaching material selection, Chinese classroom teaching, culture promotion activities, Chinese literacy for teachers, this a few aspects to explore the Confucius institute at the university of Burundi school-running direction in the future. Make the Confucius institute at the university of Burundi realize characteristics of running a school, benign operation.Let the transmission rates, acceptance of Chinese in Burundi is higher.
