This report is based on a simulated E-C consecutive interpretation task the author took, “On Some Aspects of the Translation Industry”. Upon examining live recordings and analyzing transcripts, the author hereby pinpoints undermining problems that occurred amid interpreting, among which, issues of information loss and poor logic come to the forefront. The cause analysis leads to corresponding possible solutions. Some specific interpreting techniques are recommended in countermeasures for those problems.Consisting of three parts, the report is presented in task description, problem analysis and countermeasures in sequence. The task description gives an overall introduction to the task, comprising background information and pre-task preparation.Problem analysis comes as the main part of the thesis, where three major problems are reviewed combined with practical cases. Besides two commonly made unsatisfactory defects of information loss and poor logic, the problem of failing to follow the speech style is also contained in this category. Suggested countermeasures are put forward in the following part, techniques like liberal interpretation, highlighting cohesion and exploiting amplification are recommended therein. Suffice it to say that for each problem the author intends to work out a solution with feasibility respectively.
