The Causes And Solutions Of Information Loss In Arabic-Chinese Consecutive Interpretation

In consecutive interpreting,the completeness of information is one of the most important evaluation criteria for interpretation.If the amount of information in the target language is less than that in the source language,it will affect the quality of interpretation and also affect the users' trust in the interpreter.In order to solve this problem,the author will first deeply understand the reasons for the lack of information.In this paper,the author will analyze information loss in the mock conference of the 4th edition of ASBAR World Forum 2019.The author will use Daniel Gile's effort model and the comprehension formula of interpreting to analyze the reasons for the lack of information in the case.High information density,unbalanced division o f effort between notes and memory,insufficient language skills,and insufficient background knowledge of specific subject will all lead to information loss in the target language.Although the problem of information loss is inevitable,but there are some solutions can help reduce this problem.In this thesis,the author will provide some solutions,such as: adequate preparation before interpretation,improve the quality of notes,enhancing shortterm memory ability and improve vocabulary.The author also hope that this thesis will help Arabic-Chinese interpretation students and interpreters deeply understand the reasons of information loss and refer to the solutions proposed by the author.
