Yue Fu Zhi Mi was written by Shen Yifu in Nansong Dynasty, made up of twenty-nine chapters, over two thousand words. Wang Zhuo’s Bi Ji Man Zhi and Zhang Yan’s Ci Yuan, together with Yue Fu Zhi Mi, are called “the Three Ci Hua in Nansong Dynasty”. However, Yue Fu Zhi Mi is less influential than the other two and lacks enough researches. Experience is the mother of wisdom, even if Shen Yifu’s Ci are all missing, Yue Fu Zhi Mi is indeed the reflection of his realizing and summarizing the sweetness and bitterness of his creation, and from which we can learn his elegant Ci ideas and his explanation on the ways of composing. It is a representative Ci-ology work whose name and wordings are often mentioned and quoted by later generations, which proves how deep it influences later generations. This research targets on Yue Fu Zhi Mi and has four chapters, exploring how well it is taken since its birth from an overall and micromesh view.First of all, finding out how its version passes on. It was first seen in the preface of Chen Yaowen’s Hua Cao Cui Bian in Ming Dynasty. Later, the version of Yue Fu Zhi Mi in Qing Dynasty includes Si Ku Quan Shu, Weng Da Nian’s emendation during Xianfeng Period, Chen Qubing’s Bai Chi Lou Cong Shu and Si Yin Zhai Suo Ke Ci, as well as Ci Hua Cong Bian and Cai Songyun’s Yue Fu Zhi Mi Jian Shi in the Republic of China era. Its version had been confused with Ci Yuan for a long time. It came a little earlier than Ci Yuan; however, the two are not only shockingly similar in style but also in the contents. That is why they are easily confused, and also reflects their successive relationship from the side.Second, mainly and systemically making clear how it was treated in the past generations. It has been through five stages, the initial period-the end of Song Dynasty, the fallow times-Yuan and Ming Dynasty, the recovering period-Qing Dynasty, the transition period- the Republic of China, and the expansion period-contemporary. In this process, we aim at some representative people and works, analyzing the similarities and differences between Yue Fu Zhi Mi, and presenting what and how they accept it. Before the Republic of China, it was mostly accepted in the form of subjective, informal and recorded classical scattered essays. After the Republic of China, the academic, analysis and scientific verification were strengthened, its research gradually heads into diverse elucidatory research stage in the brand new view. Moreover, discovering people’s potential recognition and acceptance to it from observing how later generations see Qingzhen Ci and Mengchuang Ci. We can trace some of the judgments from Yue Fu Zhi Mi. Shen Yifu advocated Qingzhen Ci, and passed on the thoughts of Mengchuang Ci, saying that Mengchuang Ci well expressed the wonder of Qingzhen Ci what are often kept by later critics or developed. In addition, he started the pattern of discussing Ci, “You Wu Xi Zhou”, offering an example to Zhou Ji’s way of discussing Ci about “go through Bishan Ci, Mengchuang Ci, Jiaxuan Ci, then return to Qingzhen Ci’s nature”.At last, through discussing its value, the different treatment comparing with Ci Yuan and its gradually entering the history of Ci writing, we can make the conclusion that its flaws cannot obscure its splendor, it still has the value of times and the meaning of Ci-ology history that inheriting the Ci-ology in Song Dynasty and enlightening later Ci-ology. Then we can give futher affirmation on its hard-won success in Ci-ology history.
