Chinese city love film, as a new genre in the movie market, has been gaining both the success in the return and the growing attention from the academic circles. This kind of films always use each stage of love as their telling clues such as germinating, developing, frustration, reunion and dispersing. Its attraction is due to the artistic expression of love. The conflicts between two people’s pursing for love and the facing hinders play a role as the telling impetus of the film. And they often discuss the mutual topics and emotion demand of mankind by expressing the absolute transcendence of love.The life is the art’s origin, so that the film is the art inspect of the present society. It’s not only a mirror of the society life, but also an art amusement of the public. So the film has bright age and individual characteristics, and the emerging ethical issues in film are the art references of the social phenomenon in real life. In all ages, the ethical code has been playing a role as the highest standard of judgment in Chinese traditional values both to the society and individuals. It will be acknowledged by Chinese traditional values only when that conform to the standard of beauty, kindness and truth. Chinese traditional values see the ethical centralism principle as its highest principle in which the existence of the value is a kind of moral being. Chinese movies have a morality and ethical expression tradition from the beginning. In the new period, as in the new context of age and history, Chinese filmmakers have been persevering in spreading Chinese traditional values in the way that insist continuing and updating the Chinese moral and ethical veins by image.This study tries to find the ethical values of tradition and the new period ones in the light and shadow of movies, which after the gathering and analyzing of these city love films, in five dimensions of the ethics which include sex notion, family notion, marriage notion, value notion, ethic notion. According to this, we can find out what Chinese urban community is thinking and what they are looking for. Meanwhile, this study is trying to build one kind of judgment criteria which pursues the goodness and beauty so that it could give constructive suggestions which meet aesthetic standard to the development of Chinese film industry.The first five chapters of this thesis follow the text structure which is "the concept explanation of the traditional ideas and modern concept, the analysis of the movie text". First of all, a sub concept of ethics is related to the introduction and the elaboration. Then it jumps forward in history surge to explore the moral and ethical heritage, In section three, it pays attention to the present society to focus and analyzes the current ethical characteristics of Chinese social groups which are now in a period of fast transition. What is investigated in the last section is the ethical and artistic expression of the Chinese new century city love films.With the continuous prosperity and development of the movie market, films have generated a growing audience group. Moral and ethical value orientation in the film contains more extensive and profound influence----positive one or negative one on the individuals. So the sixth chapter, which based on the analysis and thinking of previous five chapter, analyzed the social influence of Chinese city love films, putting forward its own comments and suggestions to the certain path of Chinese city love film and the moral and ethical construction of the urban community in the new era.
