Research On The Use Of Characters Of God’s Name In Naxi Dongba Scripture

Naxi Dongba character is called as "living hieroglyphics",it mainly is used for writing religious scripture.At present,scholars at home and abroad have made a large number of research on Dongba character,and have obtained great achievements. In this paper, we take the<Annotated collection of Naxi Dongba Manuscripts> (hereinafter referred to as the Quanji) as main research material,and combining some dictionaries of Dongba character,conduct a relatively comprehensive collection、collation and research on God’s name in Naxi Dongba scripture.This artic’s research on God’s name in Naxi Dongba scripture is divided into three major aspects of Gods research,language form and expression research,record research,and there are five chapters in all.Chapter one:Introduction.in this part,it firstly conducted a relatively comprehensive overview on the research status of Dongba character and God’s name in Naxi Dongba scripture.Then,it analyzed the significance of the research,research methods and this article’s new ideas.finally,it described the materials of this paper.Chapter two:Research on the Gods in Dongba religion.This chaper firstly introduced simply the Gods in Dongba religion.Then,it defined the range of the Gods in Dongba religion,and analyzed the system of the Gods in Dongba religion. finally,it discussed the systematicness of the Gods in Dongba religion.Chapter three:language form and expression of God’s name.This chapter firstly analyzed the language form of God’s name,including phonetic features and vocabulary characteristics.Then,it analyzed the expression of God’s name, including ideographical expression,phonetic expression and the expression of combining transliteration and free translation.Chapter four:record research of God’s name.In this part,there is a analysis and statistics about the record of God’s name in Dongba scripture.Then,it studied some specific phenomenon about the use of characters in the process of recording God’s name.for example, double-phonetic sign phenomenon, the phenomenon of indicating pronunciation twice, double-form sign phenomenon,share character phenomenon,omit character phenomenon, shape omission and leave out sound symbols phenomenon and so on.Chapter five:Conclusion. This chapter based on the research results of chapter 2-4, summarized the whole article,and arrived at relevant conclusions about the research on the use of characters of God’s name in Naxi Dongba scripture.
