Large gaps exist in Mo Yan’s overseas study, this article focuses on the acceptance of American to Mo Yan. The main material are from Americans newspapers and academic papers.The first chapter discusses Americans different views of Mo Yan’s Nobel prize, including the question, defense, and the self-reflection, they form multiple voices which can’t be ignored. As to Mo Yan’s literary world, the United States pay attention to Mo Yan’s uniqueness and innovative. The second chapter mainly focuses on the features of Mo Yan’s novels’ content, including Mo Yan’s "individualism", suffering, moral. The third chapter is focused on Mo Yan’s artistic features, mainly involving Chinese traditional stories and Mo Yan’s "vulgar". In these two chapters Americans pay attention to China’s rural life, Chinese traditional literature and history, Chinese farmers’ lives and suffering. They attach great importance to characters’ stubborn "individualism", unique moral force, the deep pain, and Mo Yan’s subversion and rebellion to tradition. The fourth chapter is the study of Americans blind spots. "Transparent carrot" has not been translated to the United States, the indestructible force for good in the novel defeated the misery and darkness. Hallucinatory realism is neglected by Americans. In the illusions and dreams, strange deformations criticize the distorted reality, reveal the emotional world of the characters, In addition, Mo Yan’s research in China are compared with the research in the United States.The breadth and depth of the acceptance of the United States to Mo Yan have great space to expand, but it also enriches the local Mo Yan’s literary interpretation.
