| In recent years, foreign literature translations have been pouring into the Chinese market. They are popular with the general readers. However, the translations of those foreign works are not all good. Plus, children’s literature is marginalized. Given this situation, it is very necessary to find a proper theory to guide the translation of the translator. As a report on the translation of English to Chinese Are you there, God?It’s me, Margret, this paper introduces the features of children’s language and Halliday’s language acquisition theory. Based on them, the translation and report are conducted. The author justifies the translation strategies of the children’s works.Through representative cases, the report analyzes how to use the strategies and the use of model words, retroflexion, reduplication words, onomatopoeia, adjectival postposition and simplification of compound sentences are all proved effective in translating children’s book under the guidance of Halliday’s language acquisition. It also points out the difficulties the translator meets in the task.As the report reveals, a translator should have a comprehensive understanding of translation theory concerned, the original text and the target language readers. Besides, it is difficult for an adult to translate a text about children’s literature perfectly. It is hoped that this report offers some referential value for the translation of children’s literature. |
