The Analysis Of The Semantics And Discourse Of The Conjunction “Yaoshi”

The conjunction “yaoshi” is a very common word in modern Chinese, however,the present research on this topic is relatively less. In this paper, we mainly use the theory and method of text linguistics to specifically observe “yaoshi” and the text which contains “yaoshi”, so that we can systematic study its characteristics in the actual application. The whole paper is divided into six chapters, the main contains are as follows:The first chapter is the introduction part, mainly introduced the selected topic significance of this paper, the main research results of the predecessors, the plan to use the theories, methods and the corpus sources, etc.The second chapter makes a specific analysis on lexicalization of the conjunction“yaoshi”.The third chapter is about the semantic analysis of the conjunction “yaoshi” and its connected components. Firstly, we observe the basic grammatical meaning of“yaoshi”, analyzed and summarized the semantic relationships between the sentence of “yaoshi” and its sentence before it, the basic semantic relationship and other semantic relationships between the clauses of “yaoshi”, and then, we analyze the semantic type of the sentence of “yaoshi” from the perspective of the possibility of realization and time.The fourth chapter analyzes the connected language units of the conjunction“yaoshi” in the text from the perspective of discourse, the distribution of position of“yaoshi”in the text, the movement and the functional differences which is caused byits movement, and then, we concretely analyze the way of lexical cohesion of“yaoshi” from the three aspects of the same words use in succession, the similar words use in succession and collocation with other words.The fifth chapter analyze the discourse pragmatic features of the conjunction“yaoshi” from the perspective of pragmatics, including the function of logical relationship connection, expression of subjectivisation, topic mark,etc.The sixth chapter is the conclusion part, which summarizes the main points of the whole paper, and makes a summary of the main deficiencies to the paper.
