This thesis mainly analyzed kinds of structures like V+Xiaqu, V+Xialai and V+Shangqu from the aspect of motion events. Base on the different meaning of each direction verbs of each structure, we discussed different types of motion events, connection as well as asymmetric phenomena between each structure. At last part of the thesis, we also tried to study the presentation of motions events in Kazakh language. This thesis can be divided into six chapters.Chapter One mainly introduces the theories and methods used in this study. The object and the significance of this research are also being presented in this chapter.Furthermore, this chapter makes clear the range and the boundary of discourse markers. Besides, previous studies are reviewed in this part.Chapter Two analyzes the main components of V+Xiaqu. Starting from clarification of the semantic characteristic of Xiaqu, this chapter explores three different kinds of motion events that V+Xiaqu structure express, which are spatial motion, statal motion and temporal motion. In addition, the connection as well as difference of these three kinds of motion event are also been studied in this chapter.Chapter Three firstly clarified both spatial and statal meaning of direction verb xialai, and then explores different kinds of motion events that V+Xialai structure expressed based on the different semantic features of Xialai. This chapter secondly discussed difference as well as connections between three motion events. At last, asymmetric phenomena of V+Xiaqu and V+Xialai structures are also been studied in this chapter.Chapter Four discussed V+Shangqu structure. Starting from the semantic feature of Shangqu, this chapter explored different types of motion events that V+Shangqu structure expressed, and then explained difference and connection of each motion events. At last, asymmetric phenomena of V+Xiaqu and V+shangqu are also been studied in this chapter.Chapter Five attempted to find out corresponding expression of mandarin motion events in Kazakh language.Chapter Six is the conclusion and other discussions of this thesis. It summarizes the major findings and the limitations of this study. In addition, it puts forward suggestions for further study.
