Teaching Chinese as a foreign language in use of multimedia tools for teaching has been very common, including film and television information’s role is more and more obvious, but most of the studies have focused on the film used in teaching for senior level Chinese learners. This paper argues that, learning and language and culture learning is complementary to each other, the characteristics of Chinese culture documentary more suitable for teaching Chinese as a foreign language than the average movie, TV shows or entertainment programs. Communication Chinese culture in language teaching, make it easy to be accepted by Chinese learners.This paper discusses how to select cause Chinese learners’ attention and interest Chinese culture documentary, and the application of Chinese culture documentary more successful in the practice of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Chinese culture has long history, this paper will take the content for Chinese culture documentary classification and discussion of application, China culture documentary in the documentary in the course of teaching design.In this paper, through the analysis of the characteristics of teaching present situation of the domestic film and television media and Chinese culture documentary investigation, the use of Chinese learner preferences and documentary in teaching Chinese as a foreign language in different class, that Chinese culture documentary application for foreign language teaching is proved to be feasible.
