The Hlai language belongs to the Kra-Dai language family.Hlai dialects may be divided into northern, southern, central, and Jiamao groups, based on their phonological characteristics. In China, they are separated into five dialects:ha, gei, hjwn, mo:i-fau, and tha:i. mo:i-fau dialects is spoken by about 45,000 people who lived mainly in Xifang township and the southeastern part of Dongfang county. This area is located at the northwest periphery of Hlai.There are four chapters in this study. The first chapter is introduction, including the description of Hlai language and the Hlai people, the early studies on Hlai and nominal phrase, the meaning and methods of research. The description of noun and phrase is showed in chapter two and three. Study in chapter four introduce the analysis on the word order of nouns, adjectives, numerals, pronouns phrases and verbs in multiple modifiers. The definiteness of nominal phrase in mo’i-fau dialect is showed in chapter five.In the last chapter, the article analyses the prefixes which have the functions to restrict the semantic meanings of nouns. Some prefixes before classifiers,verbs, adjectives can change them into nouns.The study is based on the fiele investigation, aiming to analysis the typological traits of nominal phrase in mo:i-fau dialect.
