To Live In The Freedom And Love

As a famous overseas Chinese writer, Yan Geling creates a group of vivid characters with her great talents and rich life experience. These vivid characters shares the same characteristics which are living with perseverance and pursuit of love and freedom. They take a unique living way with highly feminine taints. This living way is explored by Yan Geling from feminine perspectives. And it represents in the perseverance devotion and freedom all of which are closely connected with feminine qualities. These qualities are called as feminine living, feminine love and feminine freedom as different from the general ones. With highly aesthetic value, this feminine way of living embodies the writer’s ideal. But few interpretation has been done on it. Therefore, from the feminine perspective, with close reading on the text and existential theory, this paper attempts to interpret it from living, love and freedom aspects to reveals the feminine existence in her works. So this paper analyses feminine existence from perspectives of feminine living, feminine freedom and feminine love. Except these three main parts, this thesis also includes introduction and conclusion. The first chapter discusses one of feminine existence which is feminine living. This chapter is mainly about the transformation from feminine instincts to universally survival wisdom, the specific expression in her works and its cultural origination.Next chapter is about love which focuses on that characters, especially the females ones worships, love without fetters of reality and persistently pursuit love. However, truthfully, this kind of love is the absence of love which creates love myth. This feminine love pursuits love when it is unavailable, and gains existence meaning during the progress of pursuit. The last chapter discusses female freedom in Yan’s works. Freedom means self-resistance. To pursuit freedom is to revolt reality fetters, which represents human essence, to look down upon sorrows and troubles from reality and to bear the bitterness of reality, therefore the peace of mind can be kept. In other words, do not cry over the spilled milk. With this detached attitude towards life, freedom is possible for human. That is the unique way of life in Ya geling’s Works.
