With the increasing of faulty wording phenomena, its describing mode increases more and more at the same time. After studying large amounts of data about it, the author finds that there is no common classification standard and a perfect system. Moreover, with the change of time, its development trend, classification and the research focus varies. First of all, according to the faulty wording data from the early 20 th century to the early 21 st century, the thesis summarizes, evaluates the classification mode of the former studies and presents the different development stages of faulty wording from the aspects of society and language. Secondly, based on the summarization, the thesis puts forward the new classification schema and points out the existing problems in the error classification. Through the description of three models, it will help us in the aspects like perception of faulty wording, analysis of faulty wording, correction of faulty wording and avoidance of faulty wording, which, in turn, will make a contribution on the Chinese language teaching in middle and elementary stages, correct use of the Chinese and the development of error detection software. This paper is divided into five parts. The first chapter is introduction. After each classification mode, the relevant theoretical background and specific performance are introduced, illustrated and evaluated. Finally, it makes the corresponding review, analyzes the characteristics and deficiencies of various modes. The fifth chapter is the conclusion part. It analyzes the disadvantages of the thesis form three aspects: the final standard, tolerance, semantic activation and classification system, and then has a forecast for the future study of the faulty wording classification.
