This is a translation project report on excerpts from chapter six of Municipal Finances: A Handbook for Local Governments. The source text elaborates on municipal asset management, including the ways of classifying the municipal asset, asset management functions and interlinks, framework for strategic asset management, entities in charge of asset management and measures of improving asset management in local governments. The translation project report takes Skops Theory as the theory basis combining with Reiss Catharina’s text typology, analyzes the text type, translation difficulties and translation methods and explores the role Skopos Theroy plays in the process of translation. The report consists of four chapters. Chapter One introduces project background, project significance and need analysis of the translation. Chapter Two details the introduction of the source text and translation theory. Chapter Three elaborates on quality control, translation difficulties and translation methods. Chapter Four summarizes translation experience, lessons and unsolved problems.
