This report is on the translation of Part Two of Journalism Ethics, edited by Roger Patching and Martin Hurst. The current flourish of journalism, boosted by new technology, also brings with it many ethical dilemmas. The ethical issues confronting the journalistic professionals deserve more attention. Against this background, Australian Roger Patching and Martin Hurst wrote the book, talking the key ethical concepts and dilemmas in journalism, drawing on examples and cases worldwide.The translator chooses Part Two of the book as the source text. In this part, the writers examine ethically-challenging issues such as deception, trial by media, dealing with sources, and privacy intrusion and so on.This translation report is divided into four chapters. Chapter One is the description of the translation project, including the significance, the authors and the ST. Chapter Two is an introduction to the translation process, including the preparation and quality control. Chapter Three is about translation difficulties and solutions. The difficulties lie in the translation of long sentences, journalism terminology and parenthesis translation. The translator adopted Nita’s functional equivalence theory as the theoretical guide, and relevant translation methods to ensure the readability and coherence of the target text. Chapter Four concludes with a retrospection of the translation process.
