A Report On The Translation Of Journalism Ethics: Arguments And Cases For The Twenty-first Century(Chapter 11)

This translation project report is based on the author’s translation of Chapter 11 of the book Journalism Ethics: Arguments and Cases for the Twenty-First Century edited by Roger Patch and Martin Hurst. The book addresses the dilemmas encountered by journalists in news reporting, ranging from business worth, news worth, humanism to privacy intrusion, shedding light on the current problems domestic media are confronted with. Chapter 11 introduces a row of conflicts foreign media encounters in news images’ capturing, editions and publishing, depicts public reactions to the publication of these images afterwards, including professionals’ opinions. The translated version can be used by the Chinese media industry as a reference in finding solutions to their problems, and can serve as a textbook for journalism students.This translation report consists of four chapters. Chapter One is the description of the translation project, including the project background, significance and report structure. Chapter Two is an introduction to the source text, including a personal introduction about the authors, the publication facts and a stylistic analysis of the source text. Chapter Three is about translation difficulties and the strategy adopted to carter those translation problems, translation action model proposed by Holz-M?ntt?ri was used as a guiding theory to overcome these problems. Chapter Four concludes with a retrospection of the translation process and the lessons learned.
