As an important part of literature in Yan’ an period, translated literature is an indispensable aspect of researching and analyzing the social culture of Yan’an period. However, for a long time, the study of translated literature in Yan’an period has been not received the sufficient attention from the academia, which is a pity of studying Yan’an social culture and the modern translation history of China.Liberation Daily is the sole official organ of the central committee of the communist party of China in Yan’ an period, which is published on May 16,1941 and closed on March 27,1947. As the main platform of the public propaganda and education, Liberation Daily has published a large number of literary works, literary theory and criticism, literary description and dynamic aspects of the article, which also published plenty of translated literary works. In this paper, the author intends to take the translated literature works in the Liberation Daily as the research target to study the development of translation literature in Yan’an period and explore the political and cultural double functions of translated literature in Yan’an period from times context, the general picture of translation, the main style of case analysis and the uniqueness of translated literature in Yan’an period.This paper consists of four chapters:the first chapter will analyze the background of translated literature in Yan’an period from the ideological and wartime context; the second chapter will study the development situation and characteristics of different literature types by sorting and analyzing the translated literature works in Liberation Daily; the third chapter will state times traits of translated literature in Yan’an period based on the reportage of Liberation Daily; then chapter four will elaborate the uniqueness and shortcoming of translated literature in Yan’an period from population expression, the social bottom of emotional care, the function of Chinese resistance and revolution, and the absence of artistic aesthetics.
