In foreign country T-unit has gradually formed a complete theory of measuring of L2 development, especially in the measure of development of second language exercises, T-unit has been identified as one of the accurate indicators of measurement. However in the measure of Chinese exercises, we almost did not see the research or practice of T-unit.This paper explores the use of T-unit in the measurement of writing development of students coming to China learning Chinese, we use comparative analysis to compare the T-unit among the different levels of L2 learners and native Chinese learners. We selected three groups including elementary students in the class, middle class students, and native Chinese, collecting their coursework material, and analyzing the T-unit of these material. Then we compare the differences between each level that the T-unit indicators exist. After data analysis, we also analyze the results in detail, and use SPSS to analyze the T-unit index of every level by ANOVA analysis, and the phenomena that the primary class and the intermediate class indicators showing a rising trend, but no significant difference have been analyzed. According to analysis result, W/T, CH/T, W/EFT, CH/EFT can all reflect the T-unit length effectively, and W/EFT, CH/EFT and EFT/T can tell the change of accuracy among every level. In sum, T-unit can measure the development of Chinese writing among different levels, and can be used as a reliable parameter to measure the development of Chinese. We hope that through this study T-unit theory will be introduced to the study of Chinese as a second language, and to provide a reliable basis for the researchers to measure the level of Chinese development.
