With the rising influence in the international community, exchanges in the fields of culture, economy, politics and other fields between China and the western society have also been on increase day by day. News plays an increasingly important role in promoting international exchanges and understanding, and as a secondary transmission carrier of information, news translation attracts more and more attention.The materials of this translation report are selected social news from Daily Mail translated by an intern editor in www.huanqiu.com. During the internship from 2013 to 2014, the editor has translated a total of 299 pieces of E-C social news, which had all been adopted and published in the official website of www.huanqiu.com. This report mainly analyses the effective translation methods in E-C social news translation. Through translation process study and in-depth analysis on typical cases, the editor puts forwards feasible translating skills for such kind of social news.This report consists of four chapters. Chapter one is task description, introducing the background information of the original texts and the characteristics of the texts. Chapter two is process description, mainly describing preparation for translation, the operational process and after-translation work. Chapter three introduces the guiding translation theory, Skopos theory, and three main translation methods that the author proposed. Chapter four, as the major part, is case study, analyzing the source texts and target texts and trying to apply the Skopos theory to the practice. The last part is conclusion, summarizing the entire translation process and pointing out the limitations of the report, the lessons, and enlightenments in the translation.
