| To build the universities' reputation overseas and attract more exchange students,domestic universities should increase their awareness and redouble their efforts in doing the university website translation so as to exchange information more effectively.This report takes Skopos Theory as the theoretical principle.Hans J.Vermeer proposed Skopos Theory which not only broke the limitations of the traditional approaches to translation,but also provided a new perspective for translation practice.There are three principles of Skopos Theory,with the skopos rule as the fundamental rule which emphasizes that it is the aim or the purpose of the translation decides the translation method.The coherence rule requires the translation must be readable,and the target readers can fully understand the purpose of the content to be expressed in the article.And the fidelity rule means that the translation should be faithful to the original.Since each piece of news on the website conveys different intentions,the translator should choose different translation methods according to different news intentions.Therefore,this translation process tallies with the Skopos Theory proposed by Vermeer.This report consists of four chapters.The first chapter describes the translation task,mainly introducing the source of the translation task and the translation requirements.The second chapter introduces the translation process,including the preparation part before translation and the editing and proofreading part after the whole translation.The third chapter is the case analysis,combining the skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule with the examples of ISESS website news,to explain how the Skopos Theory guides the translation practice,and translation strategies and methods adopted by the translator are explained in details.The fourth chapter is the conclusion which summarizes the attainment of the translation practice and the inspiration to future translation activities. |
