The Contrastive Study Of English And Mongolian Adjective

Guided by the theories of the contemporary linguistics and based on the achievements of traditional grammar research, this thesis makes a full and contrastive study on English and Mongolian Adjective with the method of giving impersonal descriptions, giving examples and making contrastive analysis. This thesis is composed of five parts.Chapter one is the introduction. This chapter includes the background of the thesis, significance and the method of the research, and the literature of the thesis.Chapter two makes the contrast between the word-formation of English and Mongolian Adjective. It finds out that there has similar word-formation like derivation and compounding, and also finds out that there has different word-formation like sentence connector in English etc.Chapter three makes the contrast between English and Mongolian Adjective degree. It displays the similarities and differences in three ways which are gradable Adjective, classifying of the Adjective degree and the Adjective degree-formation.Chapter four makes the contrast between the grammar function of English and Mongolian Adjective. Except for being various members of the sentences, there have many differences like English Adjective can be the Predicative which Mongolian Adjective cannot etc.Chapter five is the conclusion part. It offers main research findings, and points out the limitations of the thesis. At the same time, the author makes the recommendations for further research in the field.
