| This is a project report on the translation of World Crop Reinsurance. The excerpts of this report are from Chapter Two "perils insured in crop insurance policies", Chapter Three "policy coverages" and Chapter Five "methods of crop reinsurance". Translation on World Crop Reinsurance is conducted to introduce world crop reinsurance market, and spread the advanced experience of crop insurance abroad for the references of the practitioners of insurance and its related industries so as to improve their professional skills. Main problems in this translation project lie in the translation of insurance terms, and long difficult sentences. During the preparation, the author viewed and studied many insurance-related books and online resources to have a full understanding of crop insurance. The author chose Skopos theory as the guidance in the translation work, and adopted relevant strategies to solve the problems, such as the strategy of conversion, amplification and simplification, etc.. In conclusion, solid theoretical basis, adept translation skills, sufficient knowledge reserves and strong writing ability are the requisite qualifications for a good translator. |
