In the construction and process of “One Belt And One Road Initiative”,a great majority of Chinese enterprises are seizing the opportunity and making a headlong rush to move forward international.Upon this backdrop, one of their vital artifices and essential means is presenting a series of basic information, such as corporate profile, developing situation and sphere of business, through Chinese-English corporate annual reports,so as to accomplish the aim of facilitating foreign publicity, improving brand perception, shaping corporate image, attracting potential customers and prospective investors. In essence,a technical and accurate Chinese-English version of corporate annual report serves as a gorgeous and qualified “Curriculum Vitae” in the process of information disclosure and a sequence of business activities.Although some business translation theorists and practitioners never stopped making a series of difficult explorations and attempts in translation of various business publicity texts(especially corporate annual reports),few scholars at home and abroad have made the systematic theoretical discussion and careful investigation on the issue of corporate publicity translation. Moreover, some translation practices are also lack of guiding methods and strategies, and even full of fallacies. On the basis of Skopos-needs theory, this paper aims to categorize the Chinese-English translation strategies and accordingly propose a workable theoretical system that can be followed in the practical operation,so as to strive for a describable, expatiated, empirical and operable theory characterization.Within the framework of this system, ten original Chinese-English corporate annual reports of top ten commercial banks are selected from official release for case analysis in this study.Subsequently, according to the feature of languages, the structure and function of textual information, this paper tries to put forward the principle of characteristic information highlighting, economy and simplicity, accompanied by corresponding principles and operable norms, thereby weakening or simplifying non-associative orlow-value information.More generally, this paper proceeds by giving a qualitative and empirical summary of different types of information in annual reports of enterprises, which forms the category of micro-study.Such a micro study provides objective basis and practical proof for further understanding of meso-theoretical category and macro-category.In addition, the Skopos-adaptation theory is incorporated to mitigate some language factors caused by different societies, culture, psychology and aesthetic appreciation. As a result, macro, meso and micro theoretical conception can be organically integrated into a theoretical system, thus forming a coherent multi-dimensional power of explanation. All in all, this paper is intended to establish a system of theoretical categories of translation strategies for corporate annual reports from a Skopos-needs view,so as to promote the effectiveness of foreign publicity via corporate annual reports and facilitate the course of internationalization for some enterprises.
