Wang Xiaobo is a writer who attaches great importance to literary language. Previous study on his novel involved language,but they weren’t enough comprehensive and system, and researchists had yet to realize that there was deeply contact between Wang Xiaobo’s novel language and Modern Chinese Literature. Reviewing his novel with philosophy of language, combined with the specific historical context and the novel text, to deeply explore The Era Trilogy’s theme of Utopia,and analyse the political influence of the utopian language on people’s mind. Through this,we could find important issues which ever study ignored and had not been noticed on the relationship between language and Utopia.This thesis intends to study language problem of The Era Trilogy with the following three chapters. The first chapter uses the analysis method,combining philosophy of language and historical facts, pointing out Modern Chinese literature’s feat in the linguistic aspect, and demonstrating the contact between Wang’s fiction language and Modern Chinese Literature. The second chapter analyzes the two kinds of Utopia and its language in The Era Trilogy. This section discusses that the language of the political Utopia take control of mind, on the contrary, the language of literature Utopia maintain the richness of connotation of man. The third chapter analyses several kinds language of The Era Trilogy’s characters based on the specific analysis of th above chapters.Through this,we could see different people’s thought and mental condition under the political Utopia.Through the language analysis of The Era Trilogy, we could seize the inner relations between language and person’s thoughts, as well as the important point that the political Utopia language is doing harm to people’s mind in and out the novel text.
