Research On The History And Contemporary Development Of The Breast-Clapping Dance

"The Breast-Clapping Dance", one of the "four major dances" in Fujian, the most representative southern Fujian folk dances, is listed in the first batch nationally protected non-material cultural heritage. It will be very valuable to explore and research the historical development or the performance pattern of this dance. With the changes and development of Breast-Clapping Dance performance art in different areas today, the three major schools of the South, the Middle and the North came into being. This paper took the dance of south school represented by Mr. You Jinman as example and explored its historical changes and recent development in the research method of "cultural anthropology of dancing culture" and through large amount of field surveys and follow-up visits. The various inheritance ways were also compared and analyzed in details, providing helpful enlightenments for the protection and inheritance of the folk dance of "The Breast-Clapping Dance".
