Dispelling The Dilemma Of Subjectivity

In the view of Chuang-tzu,if the human wants to be free and unfettered, he need to handle the relationship between man and nature and others with the attitude of Zi-ran. But people often mistakenly use their innate subjectivity. In order to meet their own desire, they consider all the things and the others to be tools, which destroy the original harmonious state of Zi-ran. As a result, they will fall into the subjectivity dilemma at the same time and their lives will get hurt constantly. This is because they are driven by prejudices and try to dominate and enslave everything. They mistakably understand the world and deal with all kinds of relationships with the wrong concepts, to be concrete, they misunderstand the concepts of right and wrong, life and death. Furthermore they hold utilitarianism as their concept of value. Because the way they deal with the problems is just the opposite side of Zi-ran, they are bound to suffer from their own behavior. To solve this problem, it is necessary to eliminate the prejudices. So Chuang-tzu put forward a variety of solutions, among which the most representative ones are the Xin-zhai and Zuo-wang. Xin-zhai is the way to wipe out the selfish ego by the internal manner, while Zuo-wang is the external method. Through the two methods, man can get the ideal life, which is a kind of lifestyle without selfish ego, achievements and reputation. This is also the true state of man, and only in this state can they realize the harmony between man and universe and return to the original condition of nature. However, the state of Zi-ran is unable to be reached immediately, Chuang-tzu’s thought of Zi-ran is also divided into several levels according to different people.
