Zai-sheng-yuan is an excellent storytelling singing created during ruling period of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. It got an compliment from Chen Yinque as the “long-length masterpiece of seven-word-rhythm-poetry”. What’s more, Guo Moruo even regarded it comparable to“NanYuanbeimeng ”. Therefore, Zai-sheng-yuan plays an important role in the history of literature about Chinese ancient females. This paper consists of three chapters:Chapter one analyses Zai-sheng-yuan from a perspective of female and politics. The female character in this singing is called Meng Lijun. Her legendary life not only challenged the traditional idea that ignorance is a woman’s virtue, but also expressed females longing for entering politics. It is about a woman’s political dream. Meng Lijun being in the government reflects what women during that period are dying for. It also shows the struggles they had between reality and ideality. All of this results from the uniqueness and creativity of the author.Chapter two is about the artistic features. The narration is from a whole new perspective: it focuses on Meng Lijun’s personal experience to show how ancient woman struggled, which is obviously female awareness. The detailed depiction of Meng not only sharpens the contradiction, increases the suspense, but also improves the depth of the work. With the concise design, intriguing story, and unique composition, the whole story is closely related to people’s life. The last chapter accesses the dissemination and acceptability. Since Zai-sheng-yuan was unveiled, it received a lot of attention. Rewriting or film adaptation about this story has been emerging one after another. In our day, this work has been given a new meaning.
