With the globalization and development of our economy, executives in China are faced with big challenge to survive in the competitive international market. To improve the leadership and bring up a powerful leading group is of great importance for domestic enterprises. In order to keep up the pace, it is convenient and efficient to translate foreign prominent management books into Chinese. The management books are mostly non-literary text, so the translator must make sure that the translation provides accurate and integral information from the original text. Appropriate translation theory is helpful in the process. The translator should understand the original text well and choose the suitable theory according to the original text type.In the translation of management books, it is an obligation to show the culture connotation and communicative function on the basis of accurate translation, which needs a translator-centered theory system. Professor Hu Gengshen came up with the translation as adaptation and selection in 2004, which regards translation’as a translator’s adaptation and selection activities in a translational eco-environment’. The best translation work is with the highest degree of adaptation and selection in linguistic dimension, culture dimension and communicative dimension. The theory has a strong explanatory power and guidance for the non-literary translation. Under the guidance of the theory, the author translated four parts of The Leadership of Muhammad which belongs to the international management course by John Adair. The Leadership of Muhammad is a tutorial book with literate language. The theory gives a holistic framework for the translation production and proofreading.This report consists of five parts. The first part is a brief introduction. The second part shows the translation task and the main content of the book. The third part is a simple description of translation process. The fourth part is detailed case analysis of the translated text. In the last part, the author discuss about the way to be a professional translator based on her own translation. Only with hard work and a good command of translation theory, can one make progress in his translation career.
