Topic Structure Of Wenshan Hmong

Whenshan Hmong belongs to the topic-prominent language. The form of Whenshan Hmong topic strcture is ‘topic+theme’,without dominant topic marker. Through the analysis of a large number of Whenshan Hmong language corpora, I analysis the topic structure of Whenshan Hmong from six aspects: Whenshan Hmong eixts topic structure,three semantic relationship types of Whenshan Hmong,the means of making Whenshan Hmong topic prominent,the grammatical element and semantic element acting as Whenshan Hmong topic,multi-level topic of Whenshan Hmong, Whenshan Hmong is the topic-prominent language.The paper is divided into eight parts,including six chapters, introduction part and conclusoion part.The introduction involves the origin of research,domestic and foreign research achievement about topic,the purpose and the method of this study.The first chapter is about how to judge the topic structure of and the character of the topic structure of Whenshan. Proving Whenshan Hmong exits topic structure,the first step is to distinguish the topic and the subject.Form four aspects distinguishing the topic and the subject :topic must be posted front,the signifier of topic is equal to the signifier of one element in the theme, speech pause and function word are able to follow the topic,topic must be definite element or generic element.The second chapter introduce three semantic relationship types of Whenshan Hmong. semantic relationship types of topic structure means the topic is related to one element of the theme. Whenshan Hmong has three kinds of topic:co-reference argument topic,register topic and copy topic.The third chapter analysis three kinds of means of prominenting Whenshan Hmong topic: word order,add speech pause and function word. Word order means placing certain element to front of sentence,and speech pause and function word are added to the behind of the topic.The forth chapter list a large of grammatical elements and semantic elements acting as Whenshan Hmong topic.The fifth chapter put forword Whenshan Hmong topic structure eixts multi-levels topic. Whenshan Hmong topic structure not only has main topic,but also exits sub-topic or sub-sub-topic.The sixth chapter affirm further Whenshan Hmong belongs to the topic-prominent language. The topic-prominent is emboied in four aspects:the topic is essential ingredients of Whenshan Hmong,all of notional ingredients can act as the topic, the topic can be posted the front of sentence, topic structure eixts multi-levels topic.The conclusoion part summarize the total character of Whenshan Hmong topic structure, which has three points: the topic-prominent, without special topic marker,hasing three kinds of means of prominenting topic. Then coming up with the innovation point and inadequacies of this article.
