A Study On The C-E Translation Of University Website Profile

A standard and rational university website profile not only can provide foreigners with useful information but also can promote the university’s international image. Therefore, the C-E translation of university website profile should be attached great importance.This thesis concentrates on the C-E translation of CCNU’s website profiles to analyze the translation strategies of university website profile.Before translation, the author browses a large number of university website profiles on the Internet to have a clear idea of its text characteristics and functions, including referential function, expressive function and phatic function. Meanwhile, through comparison between Chinese and English university website profiles, the translation standards and principles are concluded to guide the translation activities. In the translation process, based on the participation in it and communication with classmates and teachers, the author summarizes several translation strategies of website profile from lexical level, syntax level, discourse level and style level, the good use of which hopefully helps improve the quality of university website profile translation.
