With the development of university education,domestic and foreign universities have attached great importance to the construction of the websites.More and more universities are realizing that the construction of websites plays increasingly important roles in many aspects such as international academic exchanges and research cooperation.And Harvard University is a world-renowned university whose advanced curriculums and community values are of great significance for domestic colleges and universities.Lots of domestic students go there for further study every year.Through translating the materials in college websites,firstly,we can learn from them the different teaching concepts and educational experience so as to provide reference to domestic universities.Also,we can get a better understanding of the ideas of propaganda and instructional objectives in western universities.And it promotes exchanges and cooperation between domestic universities and foreign universities and improves the propaganda methods of domestic universities.In addition,China's advanced community values and educational experience can spread widely.But at present this kind of translation is still few.Therefore,the author chooses this original text to translate and analyze.Based on the publicity texts on the Harvard University website,the author introduces,analyzes and summarizes the content,process and completion of the translation task.There are four parts.The first part describes the background,the description of the original text and the significance.And the second part describes the whole process of translation,including translation preparation,the plan,and quality control and so on.The third part discusses problems during the translation practice and corresponding translation strategies which are used by the author under the guidance of the Skopos theory.Finally,it summarizes the gains and losses of the author in the practice of translation and provides references for future study and translation.This practice report focuses on the third chapter of the case analysis.
