Children’s literature has its specialty compared to other literature works. It is the specialty that requires special demands for translators when doing the translation of children’s literature works. Despite the progress and development of China’s translation research, the children’s literature is not laid enough emphasis for a long time, and children’s literature translation theory and practice are also stagnant. In the wake of the communication among international culture, more and more foreign children’s literature works are introduced into China. In order to satisfy the market’s demand, the quantity of children’s translation is increasing, but, the quality is unsatisfactory. At the same time, the translation of Foreign Children’s Literature has a profound guiding significance for the development of Chinese Children Literature. Therefore, the research of children’s literature translation is extremely urgent.In this thesis, the author will take the reception theory as the theoretical basis, and take the representative children’s literature Peter Pan as the translation material, by discussing and analyzing the author’s translation to arouse attention from academic fields of China about children’s literature translation.This thesis is mainly divided into five parts.The first part is task description which mainly introduces the background, content and significance of the research, and the outline of children’s literature and its translation. The second part is concerned with the analysis of task process, the preparation before translation which includes the comparison between two translation texts and the revision of the research process of Peter Pan. Then, the third part serves as the theoretical framework of this thesis which introduces the overview, main ideas and appliance in translation of reception theory. On the basis of this, the detailed case study is conducted in the fourth part via the discussion and analysis of two translation texts from the aspects of word, sentence and rhetoric. The final part is the conclusion part which summarizes the achievements and problems in the process of translation practice and suggestions of children’s literature translation.
