| In the past few years, as higher vocational education is growing rapidly, the researchers are paying their attentions to this field. However, many problems in English class in higher vocational college have shown up. Currently, the development of English teaching in colleges is far behind the new requirement of the society. Many college students lack of interests in studying English and the graduates can not apply English well in their work places, even many of them can only use "deaf English". Therefore, the effective English teaching in colleges is becoming an issue for college English teachers, which is also the theme of my paper.This paper firstly analyzed the current situation of the higher vocational English teaching and the existing problems by adopting the following methods:the literature analysis, questionnaires and interviews. Then the author did a comprehensive research on students’attitude of English studying in her own college. From her observation of excellent teachers’ teaching strategies, combined the strategies with the various aspects of the English teaching in higher vocational colleges, she explored the effective teaching strategies for improving the current situation of college English classroom.The innovation of this paper is firstly indicating the problems in college English teaching. And secondly the author pointed out the most efficient way to improve English teaching in college is to apply effective teaching strategies into English classroom. Moreover, the research, integrated with the real classroom teaching examples, specifies to each aspect of English teaching in colleges and constructed a whole set of teaching strategies that effective for English classroom improvement. The strategies can be shared with other college English teachers to solve the problems they are facing. |
