As the common sayings are refined and established statement of stereotypes, and express a characteristic of vivid, humorous, widely popular in the folk wisdom, it has been a crucial role in Chinese vocabulary. As China’s international status is increasingly powerful, the enthusiasm of the foreigners to learn Chinese is rising. To the senior stage, international students found that saying this vivid expression interesting. The target of teaching Chinese as a foreign language(TCFL) is to cultivate students the ability of intercultural communication, the common sayings manifest the wisdom and culture a nation,which make the foreigners are interested in learning them. However,the sayings have semantic opacity and certain culture additional meaning,its limited teaching material distribution and so on, cause acquisition difficulties of the learners.Currently, linguistic definition of common saying’s specific area has not yet unified, textbooks of teaching Chinese as a foreign language hasn’t been paid enough attention to the colloquial slang and the combination of teaching Chinese as a foreign language research. It is necessary to carry out the further research. We intend to give the narrow sense of common sayings and accurate position through the analysis with other categories of idioms. On the basis of the theory of "language chunks", conceptual blending theory to explore the sayings,and give some positive ideas for the TCFL.The thesis is consist of four parts. The first chapter mainly talks about the background and meaning of the research,and on the basis of reviewing the existing rearch, the method of this research has been introduced.Chapter two aims to defined the narrow sense of the common sayings, meanwhile probes into the source and types of them.Chapter three analyzes the meaning of teaching the common sayings and the problems existed in practical teaching.Chapter four elaborates the theory of language chunks and the conceptual blending theory, and analyzes the form, the understanding mechanism of the sayings.Chapter five proposes the feasible strategies and methods of the common sayings teaching in the TCFL.Chapter six is a brief conclusion of the whole thesis and summarizes the shortages of this article.
