San Chao Bei Meng Hui Bian(hereafter referred to as San Chao) is written by Mengshen Xu. It is a plentiful literary work containing 250 rolls and 1.3 million words approximately. It is a Song Dynasty chronological masterpiece recording the wars and other historical events between Song and Jin during 3 periods: Song Huizong, Song Qinzong and Song Gaozong. San Chao retains amounts of colloquial features reflecting the parorama of language in Song Dynasty. Besides, the book contains a lot of original piece, some of which are long lost. Because of this, the research of San Chao is of greater importance. In terms of San Chao, there is the phenomenon of vernacular and classical Chinese coexistence and the classical Chinese could not reflect the actual language usage situation in the period of the book creation, so based on the comprehensive monographs, the corpuses of the question sentences from San Chao article use the vernacular language corpuses.This article divides the question sentences of San Chao into 4 categories: specific question, yes-no question, alternative question and rhetorical question with a negative answer implied. The approaches of the research combine phenomenal description and reason explanations with the exhaustiveness measurement statistics. In order to question marks as the entry point, the language analysis and description of syntax, semantic and pragmatic plane are from interrogative pronoun, interrogative adverb,question mood particle,, question syntactic structure and so on. It also uses diachronic comparison based on synchronic description in terms of question sentences with other two fictions of Ming Dynasty: Tales of the Marshes and The Golden Lotus, to reflect the features of the language in Song Dynasty and its evolution.The article altogether divides into eight sections. The first section is the introduction including San Chao and the predecessors’ research, it also contains the instructions of the choice of version and methodology; The article focuses on discussing the specific question, yes-no question, alternative question and rhetorical question with a negative answer implied separately from the first chapter to the forth;the fifth chapter mainly compares the interrogative sentences in San Chao with those from Tales of the Marshes and The Golden Lotus. We found that from Song Dynasty to Ming Dynasty, major changes have taken place in the situation of the distribution of question type, the usage of question type and the specific usage of question mark.
