Research Of Interrogative Sentences In Da Tang Xin Yu

Da Tang Xin Yu,as a note-novel is about the words and deeds of historical figures from Tang dynasty Wude to Dali period.It is divided into thirteen volumes,including three hundred and fifty-three entries,and containing exceeded eighty thousand words.The content of the novel is close to life,and the language is lively and interesting,which could reflect features of the languagein the mid-and-late Tang Dynasty.This article divides all the interrogative sentences of Da Tang Xin Yu into four categories: specific question,yes-noquestion,alternative question and rhetorical question.The first four chapters focuse on describing and analyzing respectively the internal system of each category,in order to explore the characteristics of the interrogative sentences in the Da Tang Xin Yu.The fifth chapter mainly presents the diachronic comparison between interrogative sentences in Da Tang Xin Yu and those from Shi Shuo Xin Yu and Zu Tang Ji,with the purpose of revealing the source and direction of interrogative sentences in Da Tang Xin Yu.Moreover,the fifth chapter describes the evolving trajectory of interrogative sentences from mediaeval Chinese to modern Chinese.The sixth chapter is the epilogue of this article,summaring the features of interrogative sentences of Da Tang Xin Yu.The system of interrogative sentences in Da Tang Xin Yu is relatively complete,and the development of the four categories is different.In specific question,“he” is the vast majority of interrogative pronoun.Yes-no question mainly relys on mood particle to convey tone,which is gradually replaced by adverb of mood.The number of alternative question is a little,in which "VP+ fou" structure is the majority.In rhetorical question,interrogative pronoun plays the same role with interrogative adverb.It is worth noting that the artistic techniques of poetry would affect the use of certain interrogative pronoun.Helu could inquiry method.Hechu and hesuo could not only inquiry the location,but also the time.The interrogative sentences in Da Tang Xin Yu preserves some characteristics of ancient and medieval Chinese,reflecting the basic appearanceof the transition from medieval Chinese to modern Chinese and the uniqueness of Chinese interrogative system in the mid-and-late Tang Dynasty.
