The Comparison Of Chinese And English Euphemism And Teaching Chinese Euphemism As A Second Language

Euphemism bears its unique national culture as a part of language. As a kind of language teaching, the ultimate goal of teaching Chinese as a second language is to cultivate the abilities of learners to communicate in Chinese. And using euphemism correctly is very necessary to guarantee the communication smoothly, so it is too important to teach foreign learners euphemism. But most of the study of euphemism in China is just ontology research. And there is a little of research focus on teaching euphemism as a second language and comparison of Chinese euphemism and English euphemism. With the rapid development of teaching Chinese as a second language, we must do more research about this part.This paper bases on the euphemism ontology study to compare the Chinese and English euphemism,and analyze the similarity and difference between them. And then I through questionnaire investigation figure out foreign learners’ difficulties in Chinese euphemism study、the error mode and the cause of errors. And at last I offer some teaching suggestions to Chinese teachers and teaching materials. I hope this paper can give a hand to the development of euphemism teaching.
