The Research Of Cause Combinations "V De" Since The Six Dynasties

We are aimed to do a research of "V de" combinations which contain cause semantics since Weijin Dynasty in the paper. The cause semantics of "de" in the period is used as the starting point, and the research of word-making route of "Shide" is used as the clue of the paper. We did a research about these combinations, "Zhide", "Lingde", "Zhide", "Gande" etc. There are two paths to explain the word-making route of "Shide", which are both reasonable, lexicalization of the cross-structural combination and synonymous compound. But we cannot choose a more appropriate way just from its internal research. Therefore, we hope to find the proper route of "Shide" combination through the analysis of anonymous similar structures in both ancient Chinese and modern Chinese dialects. We mainly analyzed the "V de" combinations from three aspects, semantic features, structural features and semantic development. As a result, we made a conclusion that "Shide" should be the same as "Zhide" and "Lingde", who developed from lexicalization. Besides, in modern Chinese dialects of Edong, there is a "V de" combination containing the meaning of giving or passivity, "Bade". In a certain historical period, "Bade" could also express cause semantics, and the word-making route was not synonymous compound. The credibility of "Shide" who developed from lexicalization was greatly enhanced.
