Environmental psychology is a branch of psychology, the main research is the relationship between environment and behavioral psychology. This research reveals people’s mental activity and development in various environment. The relationship between visitors and urban parks is the typical interaction between people and environment in environmental psychology, so the relevant theories and ideas in environmental psychology has a better guidance for landscape design of urban parks.Through analyzing the theory of domestic and foreign environmental psychology, this essay puts focus on summarizing typical theories and viewpoints like the ecological theory of perception, cognitive map, environmental load theory, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory and so on. Meanwhile, it also analyzes the relevant theory’s function in landscape design of urban parks.This essay uses post occupancy evaluation, observation and research method like that to investigate Ji’nan Baihua Park and Zhongshan Park. It analyzes the psychological demand of visitors to landscape space and facilities in urban parks.What’s more, the landscape designing method under the guidance of environmental psychology is summarized and proved by successful Park designing cases. It’s considered that visitors’ behavioral psychology in urban parks can be summarized from two mental demands, one is innate and one is acquired. The innate one includes hydrophilic, geophilic curious instinct, and demand of security; The acquired one includes visitors’ desire for social interaction, identity of region culture, different psychological needs of different visitors’ age and so on.Finally, the summarized designing methods direct the landscape design of Baihua Park.
