On The Translation Of Corporate Management Texts From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

This thesis discusses the English-Chinese translation of the text of corporate management with the guidance of skopos theory.During the translation, the translator should not only conform to the rules of skopos theory, but also consider the ways and methods to realize it. The original text chosen in this translation practice is a typical corporate management one with the features of many proper nouns, terminologies, italics, nominalizations, passive sentences and discontinuous structures. The thesis has first analyzed these features. Then the author chooses some translation methods, including amplification, omission and conversion of words as well as segmentation and merging of words and sentences according to the characteristics of the original text and the three rules of skopos theory. The representatives of the theory break through the idea of equivalence, and consider that translators could change the form of the target language in order to accomplish the purpose of the translation. Finally, the conclusion is drawn that skopos theory could guide the translation of the text of corporate management better than other translation theories. During the process of translation, translators should choose a suitable method and be guided by the three rules of skopos theory.
