One of the advantages of the text-based simultaneous interpreting is that the interpreter can receive the original texts before he or she do the interpretation. Therefore, the pre-task preparation is very important. Meanwhile, during the interpretation, the interpreter may meet many kinds of problems that should be discussed, studied and solved. The author attempts a case analysis of her very first SI practice by drawing on previous research findings. It is found that the quality of the pre-task preparation can greatly influence the quality of the interpretation. And if the speaker chooses not to use the original text and make impromptu speech, the interpreter probably will encounter problems which including mistaken interpreting, missed interpreting, fillers and hesitations. Therefore, it would be the interpreter’s duty to do the pre-task preparation and handle all kinds of problems that pop up during the real work scenario. The paper aims at studying the field experience to put forward some practical strategies for the pre-task preparation and challenges during the real work, and as well, to contribute the author’s effort to the research of text-based interpreting.
