Since the industrial revolution, with the rapid development of human civilization and economy, global ecological environment is getting worse and worse and rapidly spread. Club of Rome in the early1970s has come up with the increase of the population explosion, resource depletion and environmental damage, is bound to restrict economic growth. Human gain satisfaction of material life and spiritual life through sacrificing the ecological environment, which is seriously damaged and important to our earth. Meanwhile, it causes catastrophic results, like melting polar glaciers, rising sea levels, serious atmospheric pollution and so on. Now, our lives and health are facing the threats of natural disasters, air pollution and a series of environmental problems. However, human constantly reach out the hand of sin to nature as a result of compromising to material demand again and again, so the food which sustain our life is doomed as well. Our daily life is full of the food with overweight food additive which directly threaten our life safety. The melamine-tainted formula milk powder which poisoned babies incur the greatest popular indignation. Motivated by interests, people who did the outrageous behaviours already lost the most basic human ethics.Therefore, we have to slow down the steps of development, polish our eyes blinded by economic interests to look at our crimes in nature, and regain the respect to nature and life, How to reduce the earth’s environment load problem has become the human a challenging task. Art design as a cultural carrier which is active in all aspects of our life and our production, begin to shoulder the responsibility and obligation of protecting the environment upon the original idea basis. Whether develop the actions of art design activities, or the propagandistic content of art design, both should be beneficial to ecological environment, human survival and development. Thus, in the face of numerous environment problems, introducing ecological ethics into the current art design is the only way to solve the way of survival, and it is the obligatory responsibility. This article elaborates the development and the significance of ecological ethics, and probes into the ecological ethics in art design. By listing a series of design works in graphic design, industrial design, environmental design and so on, which confirm the importance of ecological ethics for present and future art design, ecological environment and human survival. The answer is certain. As the basic performance of art design, spread is the best vehicle for propaganda of ecological ethics. Indeed, ecological ethics is also the theoretical basis to guarantee the development and liveness of art design. The relationship between the two components is supplementing each other, and ecological design is the best combination of them.
