Folk art is the creation of the working people in the productive labor. It has abundant species, a long history, national characteristics of culture and local color. Each of them hastheir own unique style and strong Chinese folk characteristics, which is the crystallization ofthe simple beauty of the people. At present, the professional Chinese university art designeducation ignores the use of folk art resources in China, blindly to attach too muchimportance to foreign design concepts and elements from foreign fawn on foreign powers,but also has not formed the art design education system suitable for the situation of Chinese,the specialized research can be said that the influence of folk art to modern Chinese arteducation is still not very ideal. Contemporary Chinese folk art heritage has many problems;choosing to focus on ‘research’ heritage folk art in art design education, and this paper istrying to analyze the concept, classification and other ontology of folk art, based on thereference point of folk art heritage in order to explore the necessity and urgency of theinheritance of folk art in the contemporary college Chinese in art design education. Folk art‘words to teach, and action to the demonstration’ form of succession with great closed and lagbehind. In this case, the folk art into the art design education, reforming in a timely manneron the inheritance of folk art, is not only conducive to the dissemination of Chinesetraditional culture, heritage and more conducive to the development of folk art. But in theteaching of art and design in the contemporary folk art heritage also has some problems, suchas the curriculum is not enough, teachers in the teaching of folk art and contemporary collegestudents do not pay enough attention to the importance of understanding of Chinese folk art.Through the deficiencies of folk art heritage in contemporary art and design education, thispaper tries to highlight value of folk art inheritance in art and design education. Chinese folkart heritage appeal to find problems in art design education, and find out the method to solve:first, create conditions and standards of folk art curriculum, the development of teachingmanagement and assessment of national standards; second, improve the love folk art teachingquality and improve the consciousness of university teachers, and improve the competencetheory study and grasp certain folk fine art; third, let the college students devote themselvesto the practice of art to enhance their understanding on fork art as well as to promote their enthusiasm for fork art. Only in this way, can the students create works which not only meetthe international aesthetic requirements, but also have the Chinese characteristics of modernart design. This paper tries to stimulate the people to pay attention to the folk arts, enhancethe love for the motherland of traditional art, and establish the inheritance and application ofconsciousness, which evokes a strong sense of national pride and patriotism.
