Figurative expressionism takes figures as the main painting art form, which is different from photographic reproduction and performance and it is not a painting or a pure reflected object shape, but on the basis of "phenomenology", emphasizing to go back to things itself, highlighting observation and the way of thinking, introducing the phenomenon of the drawing to content and think the aesthetic experience and regular pattern widely. For the regeneration of image more vividly and seeking the essence of painting, the artist borrowed lyric into the abstract elements, and then to produce new things through visual perception in understanding. Chinese figurative expressionism painting starts with the western philosophy as a starting point, influenced by Chinese ancient philosophy and traditional culture and the fusion to show the time characteristic of the poetic connotation and spirit quality.This article divided into four chapters, the first part outlines the concept, basic method of figurative expressionism painting, development situation. The second part stars from three aspects, which are Confucianism, Taoism and literati paintings and these are on the development of figurative expressionism painting in China. The third part, according to Mr. Li ZeHou’s aesthetic theory, by listing the specific painter to analyze characteristics of the art of figurative expressionism painting, to deepen the study of figurative expressionism painting. The fourth part explores and makes understanding of figurative expressionism painting through by author’s creation practice. Feeling and thinking about the existence of figurative expressionism painting significance and value, further discusses the figurative expressionism painting nationalization and localization of possibilities.
