Since the founding of new China, there are many painters created a batch of excellent oil paintings to the ethnic minorities as the theme, in which there are several representative painters, such as Dong Xiwen, Wu Zuoren, Zhu Naizheng, Chen Danqing, Ai Xuan etc.. Their paintings convey the spirit and culture connotation of unique ethnic minority areas to the viewer. The ethnic area has rich traditional culture, the unique ethnic costumes, architecture, jewelry and other elements to become the source of inspiration of artists. The spiritual connotation of the minority subject paintings is ethnic minorities living status, cultural interpretation. This art present to the audience is a unique style. With the development of economy in ethnic minority areas and ethnic groups and cultural exchanges have become increasingly frequent, the national minority area part of the ethnic traditional culture is lost, as a graduate, we have the responsibility and obligation to understand and inherit the traditional culture of ethnic minorities.This article discusses the national minority area’s history, environment, and culture, the minority subject paintings were major. From the angle of practice to explore and analyze the artists in the creation of ethnic minorities which fresh performance art works. The four aspects of the show from the minority paintings are the cultural, ethnic customs and natural environment, religion. From these four aspect, we can analyze the Time’s features and characteristics of the works, and the unique personal style of minority subject painter and case study. This paper analyzes the unique national culture of the minority subject in oil paintings from the content and form, and carried on the profound summary.
