Economic vocabulary, as a tiny classification in Chinese vocabulary system, hasrarely been researched with achievement at present, especially for books.“Xingshiyan”is the collection of short stories that reflects the view of social life in Ming dynasty. Itis highly valued in vernacular novel for its language. It is appropriate to be thehistorical data for modern Chinese vocabulary research. The abundant records of theeconomic vocabulary occupy the important position in the Chinese vocabulary.The author tries to make a thorough research on the economic vocabulary basedupon “Xingshiyan” for the first time with the relative Chinese linguistics theoryThis thesis consists of five parts.The first part is the Introduction, including the following parts: basic situation of“Xingshiyan” and the value of corpus; illustration of the researching situation of“Xingshiyan” and economic vocabulary and finally, the analysis of the value ofeconomic vocabulary in “Xingshiyan”, and the research methods.In Chapter one, the author gives a definition for economic vocabulary, regarding itas a large semantic field including the economic activity, employees, trade fair andsupplies in accordance with different meanings. The sub-semantic fields will be furtheranalyzed.In Chapter two, the author analyzes the structure and usage of the economicvocabulary in “Xingshiyan”. From the perspective of structure, the phonetics andgrammar are discussed. In terms of the usage, the application of the economicvocabulary is mentioned. In summary, there are three features, concurrency, polysemyand synonymy containedIn Chapter three, the author carries on the synchronic and diachronic comparison,giving a comprehensive analysis of the development of economic vocabulary in“Xingshiyan”. With the synchronic comparison between “Sanyan” and “Erpai”, thereexists the overall condition of the economic vocabulary in the late Ming dynasty.Through the diachronic comparison with the “Qiludeng”, the evolution situation anddevelopment trend of the economic vocabulary are explored.In Chapter four, the author relies on the economic vocabulary in “Xingshiyan”,along with other reference, giving supplement in three authorized dictionaries according to different aspects.The last part is the conclusion. The author summarizes the general feature, thedevelopment trend and the evolution situation of economic vocabulary in the Mingdynasty; At length, commercial culture of Ming is explained with the conveyedinformation in economic vocabulary.
