Report On English-Chinese Simulation Consecutive Interpreting

This report is about the practice and research of simulation consecutiveinterpretation based on the source-language material, the online course “cars: past,present and future”.The interpreter keeps record of the preparation, interpreting process andsummary of the simulation consecutive interpretation. The interpreter sums up somecommon problems and mistakes in the interpretation and applies some interpretingstrategies to solve them. On the other hand, because of the source-language material isabout the field of automobiles, it includes many specialized knowledge. Theinterpreter can study some background information and specialized terms aboutautomobiles, which can improve the interpreter’s scope of knowledge andprofessional competence. And the construction of the simulation scene of consecutiveinterpretation can also help the interpreter to build up psychological confidence.The report consists of six parts. The first two parts are the brief introduction ofthe simulation interpretation and characteristics of consecutive interpretation. Thethird part introduces the basic content of the simulation interpretation task. The forthpart is the introduction of the preparation and practice process of the simulationinterpretation. The fifth part mainly covers problems occurred in the interpretationand interpreting strategies. The sixth part is about the summary of the report and theenlightenment of this practice.
