China’s overall national strength is enhancing increasingly with thepractice of reform and opening-up policy together with the developmentof economic globalization. Moreover, China plays an important role ininternational affairs and ranks high in international community. Eachnation hopes to draw on others strong points and improve itself throughinternational communication. Undoubtedly, interpretation acts as a crucialrole in international exchanges. If there are several mistakes in theinterpretation, the result is unpredictable. Therefore, it’s imperative tocarry out a study on interpretation mistakes.Both China and India are the members of BRICS. China and Indiashare broad common interests as the result of being faced with the samemission and challenges.As the biggest and most vibrant emerging powers,the relationship between China and India is regarded as one of the mostimportant bilateral relationships. Therefore, interpretation is supposed toact as an irreplaceable role in the frequent exchanges between China andIndia under such international context. As a result, it’s rather importantfor interpreters to convey the ideas of leaders in an accurate, efficient andhigh-grade way.The author of this report selects a speech of president Xi at ICWA onSeptember18,2014as interpreting materials and carries out a simulated C-E consecutive interpretation of a political speech. The author aims tosummarize the interpretation mistake types and try to explore the reasonsand finally put forward the corresponding coping strategies through thissimulated interpretation.Furthermore, the author hopes to explore her weakness ininterpretation of a political speech so as to make more efforts in thisdeficient field. Besides, it’s the author’s hope that this thesis could giveother interpretation learners help in some degree and improve theirinterpreting skills with the aim of communication.
